Class Registration Policy

Payment in full is required at the time of registration. This will guarantee your space in the class. Instructions and a list of materials for classes will now be available at time of registration. Please make sure that you are able to attend the class for which you have registered, as fees cannot be refunded or transferred to another class, unless the classes have been cancelled by Cotton Threads. If we cancel, you will receive a full credit note. We require a minimum number of five (5) to run the class.

 

There will be more classes being added to our schedule monthly!  Samples of upcoming classes are posted in the store and our web site.  Kits are also available for many of our upcoming classes!  Kits help take some pressure off of preparing for classes.  We are here to help assist you at anytime. 

 

Found a class you liked but couldn’t fit into your schedule?  Let us know.  You are not alone!  Call, email or drop in and we may reschedule a class around everyone’s requests!!!   We only know what is told to us, do not miss an opportunity to learn something that interests you.

Class Line up for Spring 2007

Sewing All Levels:

Sewing is for everyone that would like to learn how to sew using a sewing machine.  We will go through the machine and identify various feet and their uses.  Then we will carry on with the pattern or project you have picked to complete and Debi will teach you how to read a pattern and construct your garment properly!

Adults 2 hour classes for 4 weeks @ $50.00 + GST

Teens (13-18) 1.5 Hours for 5 weeks @ $60.00 + GST

Children (5-12) 1 hour for 5 weeks @ $50.00 + GST

BOM   Block of the Month 

1 day a month instruction on Wednesday Mar 7/07, Apr 4/07 & May 2/07 10:30 – 11am

Come join Daphne and learn steps to make these wonderful blocks!  Beginners are welcome along with advance quilters!! You are never too late for learning new short cuts!

 

Lets Assemble Our Quilt

Date: 2nd Wednesday of each Month (Mar 14& May 9/07, No April Date) Time: 10– 12pm 

Now you have your Quilt top finished!  Where do you go now?  Come explore your options on what to do next.  In this class you will learn about binding, batting, backing, tying and more!!  So come in and bring your quilt top!

RETREAT TIME!!

1-day refuge from everyday life!!  On Saturday Mar 17/07, Apr 21 & May 26/07 10am -5pm

This is a day for you; bring a new project or the forever hanging around UFO’s.  No phones or family members allowed!   Lunch is catered to everyone’s taste buds, not to mention the tasty snacks and beverages served throughout the day!!  Come and join us!

Cost is $22.00 + GST         Space is limited to 1st 10 paid customers

 

Make a Vest that Fits

4 hours Class Fri Mar 16/07 or Apr 13/07 10 am – 2 p.m.

Have you always wanted a vest that fitted you right all over?  You will after this class!!  Pick you favorite pattern and come and join Debi!!

CSI  - Mystery Quilt    (it’s a mystery no sample)

6 half day courses on Tues Mar 6&20/07, Apr 10& 24 & May 8&22/07 1-4pm

Come join CSI (Cottonthreads Secret Investigation) Orangeville and together we will solve Orangeville’s first mystery quilt.  Use the clues (material) to identify the suspects (blocks) to reach one of three possible solutions.    Guaranteed to make you wonder, accuse, assume and speculate to final result!!   Caution:  You will have fun!!

Cost is $95.00 + GST

Absolute Beginner Class

5 hour class – Thursday March 22/07 or May 12/07 10-4pm

Never done any quilting before and want to give it a try?  This course is for you! A kit full of precut fabric is ready for you to make a small quilt top.  Come and explore the world of quilting.   But beware it is very addicting! 

Cost is $40.00+GST + kit cost (36.00)

 

RAG Quilting Variations

3 hour Class   Thur. March 8/07 10-2pm

Have a blast changing a rag quilt into a split rail or square in square design.  It will give you a fresh new look on rag quilting!!  The possibilities are endless!

Cost is $35.00 + GST

 

4- BLOCK   Beginner Quilt (sample in store)

6-hour class  Date to be announced, please call if you would like to attend.

New to quilting?  Want to try a variety of techniques on a small project?  This class will cover machine piecing, paper piecing and raw edge appliqué with fusible web.  The instruction in this class will introduce you to sashing and corner blocks.  Near the end you will discuss and learn some way to quilt you project, like hand quilting, machine sewing or a method call tied knots. The last class will cover quilt labels, hanging sleeves and any other questions you may have.

Cost is $60.00 + GST

 

Basic Paper Piecing Level 1   (sample in store)

2 – 3 Hour Classes Friday March 16&23/07  

A great way to learn how to design accurate blocks by sewing on a line.  Many different designs to learn from bring your own or pick on of the instructors. Hints and tricks will be demonstrated in this class.

Star Sampler (sample in store)

1 day 6- hour session Saturday March 31/07 10-4pm or April 5&19/07 10-1pm

Learn to make a variety of stars the easy way.  You will have no bias edges to worry about or any “Y” seams to include. You will learn to make the basic star and several variations.  Note: Purchase of the book Stars by Magic by Nancy Johnson-Srebo ($36.19)

Chenille or Stained Glass Vest (sample in store)

2 3-hour sessions Tuesday March 20&27/07

Choose your favorite style and apply popular techniques to create a unique vest of your own.  The possibilities are endless.

Super Quilted Jacket   (sample in store)

1 day course on Friday March 9/07 or Tuesday April 17/07 or Friday May 11/07 all run 10-4pm

Beautifully designed and embellished machine quilted jacket. It can be dressed up or dressed down and still be stunning.  Simple pattern and easy to sew design, a must see!  This will be your favorite quilted jacket and everyone will want one!  Pattern is included in cost.

Reversible Serger Quilt   (sample in store)

1 day course on Tues March 13/07 or May 17/07 10-4pm

Yes you can finish a quilt using your serger!!  With this technique you will construct and quilt all in one step, you can make this unique quilt in 4-5 hours.  This quilt is the beginning of great gifts.

Photo Memory Wall Hanging

6 Hour Class Tuesday March 13/07 or Thursday May 17/07 10-4pm

This wall hanging can get very creative, if you are a picture buff or really sentimental you will   enjoy this quilt.  Capture your memories of a special occasion or someone special.  It can also be a beautiful family tree.

Paper Piece  Level 2 -  (Must have Level 1 Paper Piecing)

2– 4 Hour  Friday May 11 & 25/07
